Sparkly Twinkle Stars...

"Glamour is something you can't bear to be without once you're used to it"

-Loretta Young-

So... Here goes another post.. All on a glamorous and glittery night..

Every Lions Club has their own Anniversary... Just like anyone else who appreciates and honours the history of their club...

Lions Club of Kuching Host did it with a bang as they celebrated their "45 Years  Service in Lionism on the 9th October, 2010 at the Riverside Majestic Hotel...

The dress code was formal.. I ain't got anything formal like a long dress so I just use a simple toga LBD... U can't go wrong with a LBD.. My mama wore a purple French designer long dress... She lost weight and got a chance to wear that dress.. Amazin!!

Me, District Governor Augustine Ngu, Mama

I thought the dinner was gonna be just like any other dinner... Until I saw the performances.. Seriously, they're talented... The entertainment part of the dinner was coordinated well... Tou shey!!!

Grand entrance was lead by the traditional dancers... Followed by Lion Dignitaries... The dancers danced around the VIP table and head their way on stage on continued dancing there... The pace of the dance were kinda fast... But they were good.. All of them were spot on.. Two thumbs up..

There was a belly dance.. 3 of them were super slim.. My mum's friends laughed as they were joking about who would perform like them on their club's anniversary... Training, training and slim down!! That would do the trick.. I guess...

There were a few performances that caught everyone's attention..

These chicas danced the Waka Waka song..

This Leo performed with his invisible drumset

But the one that really got everyone talking was this guy...

He's the Director of the Kuala Lumpur Symphony Orchestra... Mr Brian Tan.... He played the violin like there's no tomorrow.. A few of us didn't bother eating anymore.. We just watched him perform... He's full of life when he's playing his music.. Admire him to the max..

What is an Anniversary without cake.. Right??

We get to eat the cake... Yum!! Chocolate and Vanilla cake with fresh cream...

All in all a glamorous event not to forget...

XOXO... p/s: Got the pictures from websites and friend's FB.. Thanks!!

KL trip + a little extra head banging session....

Harruuuu!! Learnt something in KL...

OMG = Oh Menarik Gila
My eldest brother Gordon was uber kind to bring me and my mama for a trip to KL... Its actually an early birthday gift for my mama.. So his plan was to bring my mama there to unwind herself as she's been taking care of granny... And trust me, it ain't easy to take care of granny... A little bit of shopping and walking around the city was how we pamper our mama...

So, we left early in the morning... Early for me actually... We went on board the 8am flight to KL... It was sooo exciting because it's been awhile since I've been on a plane... My cousin actually booked the flight for us as me and my mama are like anti-credit card people... Once you think you got all the cash in one card, you tend to spend more than usual... Hehe..

Okay okay.. Back to the story.. As we were checking in, I realized that my mama and Gordon were sitting together.. And I was sitting somewhere else.. First thing that came to my mind was.. "OH KEJAM NYER...."

While waiting for the plane... My mama and I start to judge on people's clothings just like Joan Rivers... We made this thing that when someone dress up to standard, we would say "DING DING DING!!" and when something tragic pass by, we would sound like freaking buzzers...

Joan Rivers
So anyhoo, there's this one angmo couple wearing jammies to the airport.. Like, what are they thinking?? My mum said most probably they didn't have their shower yet.. And it gets funnier... Being away from my mama and my bro, I thought nothing would get worst.. Until... The jammy couple sat next to me and I was like... OH NO!!! Having a healthy nose (no more sinus) and able to smell everything, that was probably the last place I wanna be... The smell was HORRIFYING!! I wish I can open the window... Throughout the whole time, I wrap myself with my shawl and it smells 100x better...

As the plane landed, I was like OMG!! Thank God!! Reunited with my family again... Saw those AirAsia Cabin Crews and how I wish I'm them.. If I didn't get the offer to go study at KL, I would work my bum off to be an air stewardess.. Owh well.. You'll never know what the future holds...

My other cousin, Maatin picked us up with their new car.. The interior and exterior is FAB... Love it to the max.. The car is Peugeot 3008...

Here is the exterior..

And the interior...

First stop!! IKEA!! :)

My mama and Gordon are like HUGE fans of IKEA.. My mama started loving it when we were at Holland and shopped for the first time in Ikea... Gordon however loved it when he lived in KL one time...

Maatin and I thought that we were faster than both our mums and Gordon.. But actually we were waaayyyyy behind them.. Must be because we were fooling around with all the stuff...

After paying for everything, Maatin and I decided to stay back and head to The Curve to wait for Melina... But unfortunately, she didn't come.. Anyways, we head back to Ikea because it is just a SIN to not eat dem SWEEDISH MEATBALLS!! 10 pieces for RM10.. Inclusive of fries, gravy and jam.... OMG... That just made me hungry.. I think I'm gonna make myself a sandwich... Hold up...

It doesn't look yummy from this picture.. But trust me.. It's yummy!!

BACK AGAIN!! Kaya and toast never taste this good..

2nd day... Its all about the shopping.. So we went to Lowyat because Gordon wants to get a laptop for himself.. But before that.. Time to charge ourselves.. Had chicken rice and to my shock.. The mamak stalls in KL do not sell GREEN TEA!! This is just unacceptable...

Off to Lowyat.. Gordon thought us girls would get bored with all them tech stuff.. He asked us to head to Bintang Plaza.. The thing is.. We got lost.. Owh well.. Back to the boys..

We went into the HP Shop to look out for Gordon's Lappie.. At first, the workers practically didn't care about us.. Until Gordon said that he would buy the lappie.. Out of nowhere, the workers said "Oh! Come and have a sit"... Funny how money works eh??

Had lunch at Bukit Bintang, bought a few items for my nephews and off to KLCC...

At KLCC.. It was a sad sad moment when I saw Topshop was closed for renovation... DANG!!! Went around... And saw my mama's face went blue.. I know she was worried that I was gonna spend a lot or something.. Kesian her.. So I didn't spend on anything..

Walked around and I saw heaven in the form of PEDRO... Holy mother!!!! Their amazin!! Did I tell you that I have a passion for heels?? I love them! FAB!! Saw Ninna Ricci boots and their amazin!! You have no idea how I had to hold back the urge to buy them heels...

Anyways.... While waiting for the infamous KL jam to subside, we hanged out at DOME.. Had tea.. While the boys had beer.. The waitress had no clue what draft beer was... Pity.. Considering that they assumed Sarawakians live on trees...

Off to PAVILION...

Studio Tangs is my FAV!!! Awesome heels and handbags.. A little bleh on the clothes department tho.. Went around.. Pull and bear is so so so.. I can't put into words what kind of style it is.. Owh well.. Saw a few amazin shops... Walked around and was glad to see my mama smiling... :)

Met up with Mel.. AWESOME!! My mama almost said "BOOBS" when she saw Mel.. Funny mama.. Went to Cotton On... Another fav shop... The clothes are super comfy to wear.. That got me thinking... "OMG.. I'm so gonna be broke when I move to KL"... Lord help us all...

Wanted to eat at the Japanese place selling Terriyaki.. or was it Teppanyaki... I don't know la.. Unfortunately, the place was closed.. Too bad.. Maatin suggested to go to some mamak stall nearby... Mel didn't know the way so she followed Maatin's car from the back.. I get to sit in her MYVI again!! Hee!! Owh ya!! Mel and I discussed about parking ticket prices in KL.. Such a mature topic I know but ITS BLOODY TRUE!! It's DANG expensive!!

So we head out of Pavilion.. Love that place... Owh ya!! There's an LV boutique opposite it... AMAZIN!!

We went to some weird place.. On the way there, both of us wondered where Maatin was taking us... The place didn't look like there's any place to eat nearby.. Anyways, we found the place.. Ate Roti Nan (have no clue how to spell)... DANG!! Things aren't cheap in KL.. Eating those stuff cost us RM50 (rounded up)... Exclusive of drinks..

Time to head home and part ways... Will see you again Melina Lynn Minos.. :)

3rd day.. PARAMORE DAY!!! But first.. National Institute of Ophthalmology... I told Ms Laila, Marketing Executive of NIO, that I would come and take a look at the place... Its practically next to the Tun Hussein Onn Eye Hospital...

Glad that my mama and I get to meet her.. She's such a doll I tell you.. And she told me that the intakes are in a small scale.. Thus, the classes are smaller... Great!! More attention given by the lecturers... And the staff there treat the students like their own children which is even better... Love the place and I can't wait to start studying there.. Ms Laila told me that the dress code was formal.. The first thing that came to my mind was Ms Pepper Pots from IronMan..  :)

Head home to prep for the concert...

While my mama and aunt went out to continue shopping.. Gordon, Maatin and I get ready for the concert..

How to get there??? We used LRT, KTM and RapidKL...

The LRT was smooth sailing.. Was so excited that I started to melatah and said stupid things... Maatin poked me and I actually said "OH CINA!" when theres a chinese lady sitting next to me.. I bet she was pissed off with the fact that I was this ball of madness...

Took  the KTM from KL Central... And we waited at Platform 6... I just have this thing with the number 6... Have no clue why... Everyone around us were wearing working clothes... except for the three of us.. We were camwhoring like there's no tomorrow...

So the train arrived.. And I heard the lady from the speaker said that the middle coach is specifically from ladies only... And I wondered why.. I said "CIS!! SO SEXIST!!"... Until... I went on the non-sexist coach and regretted throughout the whole time.. The place stinks like crap!! Smelled like pee and bad bad bad BO..  I just wanted to die!! There is no aircond... Its so so freaking slow.. And there's sweaty smelly people everywhere... I didn't wanna hold the pole because God knows what kind of germ is on that thing... But I had to because if I didn't I would trip and fall on the sweaty people..

To make things worst... The electricity got cut off when we were half way to Bandar Tasik Selatan... I said "OMG!!!!" Maatin and Gordon just laughed at the fact that I was freaking out.. I mean for real.. Who knows what can happen.. Started to imagine some zombie outbreak or something... The electricity came back and all was fine...

Reached the exchange station to RapidKL...

RapidKL was okay because got aircond and so so spacious... And we got more and more excited as we were 2 stops away from Bukit Jalil...

Where are we going??? BUKIT JALIL!!
Where's the next stop???? BUKIT JALIL!!
What's the name of the next stop??? BUKIT JALIL!!!

Excitement in the air and there it was... Bukit Jalil...

Then we saw the line... Mama mia.. The line was long...

The Rock Zone had their own entrance while the others had to squeeze their way through another entrance... Met a few friends..

Lots of them can't use their DSLR Cameras because they took away the batteries.. I wonder why.. So I hid my camera in my pocket...

Went in and end up sitting with the boys... The opening act was a Malaysian band called Y2K... They were in the Malaysian scene for quite some time but they were quiet for a while because the drummer fractured his leg.. They were okay okay... Can't really hear the girl's voice tho...

Then... A few Alphards came in.. And we saw a red hair popping out of the car..

Immediately, Maatin said "OMG!! SHE'S SO ORANGE!! CARROT TOP!!" And the concert starts!!

Started off with Ignorance.. Awesome!! Coz they had the curtain in front of them.. And spotlights at them back of them... You can only see their silhouette... Everybody screamed like crazy!! Then the curtain drop and the head banging session started...

Words can't explain how awesome the concert was... And pictures are worth a thousand words...

After the concert, I met my friend Pete to catch up...

Then, we tried to look for Paramore shirts... The original shirts sold inside the stadium were RM90 each... But outside the stadium, we can find the tees for RM35... But no size.. Owh well... There's always next time for the shirt...

Onn (Maatin's brother) picked us up.. And we went to Burger King... WAJIB!!

We went back to the apartment.. Started packing... Early flight..

Had a nap and get ready to leave KL...

Onn droves us to LCCT.. Were worried that we can't bring Gordon's tabletop... It's huge... Fortunately, there was another baggage entitled for check-in... Instead of paying for RM15 per 1kg excess weight.. We get to pay for one baggage title which cost RM40 for 15kg.. We were lucky enough to have only 15kg excess weight..

Went in the boarding hall and had breakfast while waiting for the plane to arrive..

Boarded the plane.. And I was separated from Gordon and Mum again.. Fortunately, no jammies angmo.. Instead, there's this guy who sat next to me.. And he was kind enough to lend me his newspaper to read... Really nice man.. Since the flight was not full, I can change seat and sat with my family..

KIA!! Home sweet home.. Daddy picked us up.. :)

Family time was amazing.. Made me realized that there's always time for family bonding and loving every minute of it... Thanks so much to Gordon for everything... :)

Peeing is pain...

Well well well... It's been awhile since I've posted anything in my blog.. Been busy doing God knows what... Family problems, health problems and of course problems relating with my future studies.. What a life.. So here's another quote...

"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place."
-Anonymous-

Shit happens...

My dad told me the other day that he didn't expect me to get sick all the time now.. Coz I used to be the swimmer, squasher, runner and blablabla in the family.. Let's just say I'm the active one.. Always out and about.. Till I reached the age of... I dunno... I just got sick..

My 1st wisdom tooth was extracted on the 23rd of last month.. Awesome!! But that's a story for another day.. Haven't took any pictures of the tooth yet.. Looks like a dinosaur's tooth when it's upside down.. Hehe...

Then, theres the sinus.. It's not so bad now.. Under medication using the nasal spray... At least I can smell stuff now.. Last time, I can't even tell when someone fart in the car or something.. Or maybe someone died in the house?? I wouldn't have smelled that for sure.. My grandma is around 84 years old? And as usual, old people got this shitting problem right?? I didn't realize how smelly it was until I got back the ability to smell.. DARN!!! I wished I had my sinus back at that time.. Why do we want long life in the first place?? Would you rather be an old, cranky, babo, shitting machine??? I guess we gotta be thankful for what we have right???

Recently, I got problem with peeing.. Felt like I was that dude in the movie "The Green Mile"... The dude had a hard time peeing.. And so was I.. No joke missy.. Hurts like crap!! Everytime I had to go to the loo, I was like "Oh God here it goes *yikes!!!!*".. The peeing process is just dreadful.. You can pee properly.. It has to stop immediately when the pain kicks in.. So, you gotta wait till the next time to empty you freaking bladder..

I told my mum about it and she immediately send me to Dr. Nadia the next day... She gave me some powdered tingee in a packet and some antibiotics.. Both of them worked wonders I tell you.. I've googled and wiki about UTI and I hope it helps for those of you who are concerned about your vahjayjays...

Heres the powder tingee.. Just mix with a cup of water and drink twice daily to flush the bladder

Urinary Tract Infection
"is a bacterial infection that affects any part of the urinary tract. The main etiologic agent is Escherichia coli. Although urine contains a variety of fluids, salts, and waste products, it does not usually have bacteria in it. When bacteria get into the bladder or kidney and multiply in the urine, they may cause a UTI."
-Wikipedia-
Here's a picture to let you what is what in our Urinary Tract

What causes UTI???
One of the most common cause of UTIs are bacteria from the bowel that live on the skin near the rectum or in the vagina, which can spread and enter the urinary tract through the urethra. Once these bacteria enter the urethra, they travel upward, causing infection in the bladder and sometimes other parts of the urinary tract.

How can someone get UTI??
  • Sexual intercourse - the female anatomy can make women more prone to UTI. Thus, during sexual activity bacteria in the vaginal area are sometimes massaged into the urethra.
  • Being too active in the sexual department - Women who change sexual partners or begin having sex more frequently have a higher chance of getting UTI.
  • Waiting too long to go to the loo for business time - The bladder is a muscle that stretches to hold urine and contracts when urine is released. Waiting too long can cause the bladder to stretch beyond its capacity. Over time, the bladder muscle is weaken. When this happens, it may not be emptied completely and some urine is ledt in the bladder. Thus, increasing the risk to have UTI.
  • Pregnancy
  • Menopause
  • Diabetes
How do I know whether it is UTI??
  • stron urge to pee
  • sharp pain or burning sensation in the urethra when the urine is released.
  • most of the time, very little urine is released and the urine that is released may be tinged with blood.
  • wants to pee ALL THE TIME
  • soreness in the lower abdomen, back or sides.
So ladies, good luck when you feel any of the above.. Trust me, you'll be sweating in the toilet... When you're cured from this, you bet you're gonna be more thankful for being able to pee..
I googled on how to prevent UTI.. Here are 10 of 'em... Hope that helps...
  1. Drink plenty of water - Water help flushes your urinary tract
  2. Don't hold it when you wanna pee (A girls gotta do what they gotta do) - Holding it in can help any bacteria at the anus from entering the vagina or urethra.
  3. Wipe your vahjayjay's after peeing - This helps to prevent the bacteria at the anus from entering.
  4. Taking showers instead of baths
  5. Always wash your vahjayjays before and after sexual intercourse
  6. Avoid using feminine hygiene sprays and douches, paricularly scented douches - It can irritate the urethra and cxan cause other infections and irritations.
  7. Drink cranberry juice - This can help to prevent and also speed up the recovery process of UTI.
  8. Take Vitamin C supplements daily - This increases the acidity level of the urine which helps to reduce the number of harmful bacteria that may be present in your urinary tract.
  9. Always wear panties with a cotton crouch - This fabric lets moisture escape instead of trapping it. Trapped moisture can create a potential breeding ground for bacteria.
  10. Read the kamasutra - Changing positions during sexual instercourse can reduce the risk of UTI as it reduce the friction on your urethra.
Silly and kinky I know... But we're only human.. I'm a Bio student and this really freaked me out that time.. Especially when I pee fresh blood...
So cheers to UTI and hopefully it doesn't happen again..

XOXO...
