Sinusitis.. *gasp*

Hello people..

Today I 'm gonna talk about something that I'm gonna live with for the rest of my life. I've accepted it as a part of me and actually I think it's rather funny coz it is as if my nose have a life of its own or something.

It started off with a migraine. I thought it was one of those normal migraines because I heard a lot about it from my mum. Days goes by and the pain had gone form bad to worst. Half of my face was swollen and my eyes were watery. It even scared my friends because they had never seen anything like that related to migraine. It had affected me a lot in my studies as the pain would get worst when I'm stressed out.

Even my Chemistry teacher didn't understand what I had to go through. There's this one time, half of my face was in so much pain that I had to cover it up with my hands just to make it feel better. I actually got scolded for that because my teacher thought that I was sleeping and not paying attention in class. I didn't bother to answer back since it was too painful.

So, I told my mum about it and she took me to a family doctor, Dr Nadia.

Before that, my brother did a research and he told me that it could be aneurysm or sinusitis.

I was keeping my fingers crossed for sinusitis instead of aneurysm.

What's aneurysm??? According to Wikipedia,

"Aneurysm is a localized, blood-filled dilation (balloon-like bulge) of a blood vessel caused by disease or weakening of the vessel wall. Aneurysms most commonly occur in arteries at the base of the brain (the circle of Willis) and in the aorta (the main artery coming out of the heart, an aortic aneurysm). As the size of an aneurysm increases, there is an increased risk of rupture, which can result in severe hemorrhage, other complications or even death."

One of the ways, to cure or reduce the magnitude of the pain is through surgery, which means they'll open up your head and try their best to remove the dilation in the brain. My brother even said that I wouldn't be able to study and do sports anymore if I have aneurysm.

So... Dr Nadia told me to do an MRI scan at Normah Medical Specialist Centre so that she could identify the main cause of the problem.

MRI is cool. But you gotta stay still and not move for less than half an hour. The knocking, rapping sound was kinda freaky but funny at the same time as try to make silly music out of it.

I gotta say that the staff of Normah Specialist Centre are really helpful, kudos to them. Plus, I'm a "Normah baby" so I'm given some kind of priority and better services. YAY!

So, I got the MRI results and went straight to Dr Nadia.

DRUM ROLLS PLEASE!!!

Maxillary Sinusitis which can cause pressure on the cheek area, causes toothaches and headaches.

Well, at least it is better than aneurysm. Like what they say, "When life gives you lemon, you make lemonade".

According to Wikipedia,

"Sinusitis is inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, which may be due to infectionallergy or autoimmune issues"

So, I started using nasal spray. When the first bottle of nasal spray was finished, my nose felt better and I thought that it was healed. It was practically the worst thing I've decided to do. I stopped using the nasal spray for a while.

Recently, the pain at the cheek area relapse and it was worst. I had this thick greenish-yellow discharge coming out from my nose which block the nostrils and became hard for me to breathe, especially at night.

The sinusitis got worst when it started to bleed.

Back to Dr Nadia....

"My dear... Why didn't you continue using your nasal spray??? You have very bad allergies so you shouldn't stop using it.. So I'm gonna give you some pills to reduce the inflammation and a nasal spray okay??".

This is how it looks like...

Mine looks something like that...
I actually thought that I lost my sense of smell because of the nasal spray. But, Dr Nadia told me that it is because of the sinus itself. The inflammation was so bad that it block the upper nasal cavity, so I can't smell anything not even ammonia. That was how bad it was.

But now, I've taken the medication and also the nasal spray.

This is actually how you use a nasal spray

AND I CAN SMELL!!!!!!!! Finally...

I can't expose myself to dust and all that because I'm allergic to it. Like yesterday, me and my mum cleaned my brother's house. I started to have flu-like symptoms but I thought it was normal. Not till I came back and found blood in my nose.

I guess I do have a valid reason not to take TEKNOLOGI INDUSTRI KERATAN KAYU after all. I wouldn't wanna wear a protective suit everyday...

Till next time..

XOXO

  1. You have certainly opened up my dingo berries to a whole new frontier regarding sinuses. Have you thought of organizing a charity fund for sinus awareness? The Marianne Tra Trust Fund For the Sinuses Kids :-)
